Monitoring and Assessment
Assessment forms an essential part of our curriculum to ensure that children are given opportunities to achieve and celebrate their work.
Children are assessed on entering our school to determine their level of learning and identify any specific needs. From then on, their progress is tracked and monitored on a regular basis using a computerised system to record results. Targets are set to address each child’s progress and to ensure they reach their full potential.
Reading and Spelling tests are conducted twice a year. A levelled Language and Maths aspect and the results of the end of Science topic assessments are used to track children.
At the end of the foundation phase (Year 2) and KS2 (Year 6) teacher assessments take place. The relevant results for Year 6 pupils are transferred to their secondary school(s).
Pupils and parents receive a copy of the termly Targets set for each child.
Written reports are sent to parents at the end of each term and consultation evenings are held during the autumn spring and summer terms.
We welcome parents contacting the school at any time if they have any questions or concerns.
Behaviour
We want every member of the school community to feel valued and respected, and for all persons to be treated fairly.
We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect.
We want our children to develop a clear view of right from wrong and to feel safe, secure and valued. Good behaviour is of great importance to us, after all, it reflects our ethos..
Rules are few but relevant, and pupils are frequently reminded of these by all staff at appropriate times.
Everyday misdemeanours are dealt with by the staff; more anti-social behaviour is reported to the Headteacher and parents contacted if necessary.
