We are fortunate to have a dedicated Art, Design and Technology teacher at Ysgol Llandrillo-Yn-Rhos, Mrs Amy Bowden.
Art and design stimulates creativity and imagination providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding and responding to the world.
Our children explore the work of artists, craftspeople and designers, learning about the roles and functions of art, craft and design in contemporary life and in different times and cultures.
They learn to make informed judgements about works of art and their own artwork. For our part, we celebrate their work, displaying it throughout our school to create a colourful and stimulating environment.
Welcome back to the new school year!
I am happy to announce that I will be choosing one or two or a few pieces of art each week as my artwork of the week! This week it goes to three year four children who were challenged to use a variety of pencils to create a dragon eye. The aim of the lesson was to teach the children how to use light and shade Effectively to create a more realistic sketch.
This week my artist of the week is Mia in year five. The class was challenged to sketch nature outdoors just like William Morri and I think you will agree that Mia’s sketches show that she has looked closely and drawn carefully.
